Held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA
On May 14th and 15th community, government, political, academic and pipeline industry leaders met for two days in Philadelphia, PA. In the spirit of unity we shared, learned, and strategized how to make our communities safer and prevent pipeline tragedies.
Mayors’ Council on Pipeline Safety
wishes to acknowledge the continuing support of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting
Industry of the United States and Canada
In one of MCPS’ first outreach meetings,
UA Executive Vice President, Rick Terven,
Representative David Barnett and International Representative Lance Albin
joined us to discuss common goals and cooperative efforts.
As result of this meeting, UA General President, William Hite sent MCPS a
personal letter of thanks, noting that as the “leading trade organization in pipeline construction and maintenance,
[the UA] is committed to continuously enhancing the industry and lives of our members [and that as UA] represents 370,000 highly skilled men and women in the piping industry… We strongly share [MCPS] concerns and believe that the safety of our workers and communities should be a top priority for our industry.”
When MCPS began efforts to organize this conference, UA General President, William Hite was the first to support MCPS, both fiscal and philosophically.
In support of MCSP efforts, we also specifically acknowledge the support of UA Special Representative Mike Mikich, Gas Distribution and Anthony Gallagher, Business Manager, Steamfitters Local Union 420.
